We are less than a week from the Asdee Village Festival & we hope everything is in place to make it an enjoyable experience for everyone. We now have further information on the events below.
The weekend will kick-off on Friday with a children’s disco in the community centre at 7pm, followed by the official opening at 8.30pm. We are delighted to announce the event will be opened by Radio Kerry’s Deirdre Walsh & this year’s Kerry Rose, Laura Daly.
On Saturday morning, we will officially open the Asdee section of the Shannon Way Trail, leaving the Asdee GAA pitch 11am. There will be refreshments at the halfway point on the trail at John Tade’s.
We will have our photo & video exhibition in the Jesse James Tavern, which will be open on Saturday from 2pm-6pm, Sunday from 10am-5pm, & Monday from 12-4pm. Thanks again to David Horgan for his generosity in allowing us to use Jesse’s.
Our main event on Saturday night will see the doors of the Community Centre open from 8pm, with The Blow In’s performing, followed by a disco until 2am with Martin Behan. We will have the chip van in the village on the night. We will also show Tyrone v Mayo on a big screen.
Tickets can be bought by clicking on this link, in John Pius Walsh’s, or from committee members.
Sunday will see the Family Fun Day in the Asdee GAA pitch, with Married vs Singles at 12 & a variety of fun games for all ages until 4pm. We will have Brew & Banter coffee on the day.
Sunday evening will see the Rambling House in memory of Tom Breen take centre stage in the Community Centre from 8pm. While there will be music with DJ Pat in Jack J’s from 6pm to 10pm.
Monday will see the 5-a-side soccer tournament take place in the Asdee Rovers pitch from 12, before the festival comes to a close afterwards in Jesse James’s with refreshments.
A special thank you to all our committee, the generosity of our sponsors & anyone who has helped by giving their time or equipment in preparation for the festival.
We hope you can go to the various events & enjoy our Village Festival. As we have seen, there have sadly been a lot of changes in the 12 months since the last one, so it’s important to enjoy the good days. If you missed it, we made this video in the build-up for this year’s festival.
All proceeds from the festival will go towards the development of the river walk & recreation area, which is now at pre-planning drawings stage. We have recently been awarded charitable status & hope we can now move forward to being development on the site in the year ahead.
