We are just over 5 weeks from the third Asdee Village Festival, since it was revived in 2023. Preparations are well underway to ensure everyone enjoys their weekend, as much as last year. We will have more information in the coming weeks.
The weekend will kick-off with a children’s disco in the community centre, followed by the official opening on Friday evening.
On Saturday morning, we will officially open the Asdee section of the Shannon Way Trail, following the fantastic upgrade work by Kerry County Council, after many members of our community had volunteered to develop over the past few years.
We will be returning to the Jesse James Tavern for our photo & video exhibition, which will be open for a period of time each day. Thanks again to David Horgan for his support in allowing us to use a building with many memories for everyone.
Saturday night will see the doors of the Community Centre open from 8pm, with The Blow In’s performing, followed by a disco until 2am with Martin Behan.
Sunday will see the Family Fun Day in the Asdee GAA pitch, with Married vs Singles & a variety of fun games for all ages.
Sunday evening will the hugely popular Rambling House take centre stage in the Community Centre. While there will be a DJ in Jack J’s from 6pm to 10pm.
Monday will see the 5-a-side soccer tournament take place in the Asdee Rovers pitch, before the festival comes to a close after in Jesse James’s with refreshments.
We hope as many of you can visit the village, go to the various events & enjoy our Village Festival. As we have seen, there have sadly been a lot of changes in the 12 months since the last one.
All proceeds from the festival will go towards the development of the river walk & recreation area, which is now at pre-planning drawings stage. We have recently been awarded charitable status & hope we can now move forward to being development on the site in the year ahead.
