Asdee Community Development Update – Sept 2021
Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions we have been unable to hold our Monthly Community Meetings. We hope to re-instate these meetings in the next few months, once restrictions allow.
In the interim, we will keep you updated, via our social media platforms with project updates and plans.
Firstly, well done to everyone who organised, took part, or turned out for the Vintage Tractor Run in the village today. It was a mighty day in the village. We will have photos & videos on our website & social media tomorrow evening.
Fr. Moore Seat:
Stonemason has been appointed, and we are awaiting a commencement date for works.
Grotto:
Grant funding has been secured under the Community Support Fund and Community Enhancement Programme. We would like to acknowledge the support provided by KCC.
Sandblasting has been completed, clearance and groundworks have commenced.
Expected completion date is Nov 21.
Shannon Way Trail
Grant funding has been secured under the Community Enhancement Programme to upgrade sections of the trail, to make it fully accessible. Expected completion date is Sept 21
Community Centre
Funding was secured, through NEWKD (Leader) to complete a feasibility study on the re-development options for the Community Centre. Consultant appointed and expected completion date of study – Nov 21
River Walk
Funding was secured, through Community Water Dev. Fund (Lawaters.ie) to complete a feasibility study on the development of a river walk, with potential future development of a recreation area adjacent to the walk. Consultant appointed and expected completion date of study – Oct 21.
Village in Bloom
Planned planting of bulbs later this year, to add a splash of colour to the village in Spring 2022.
Grant funding was awarded this week under Community Enhancement Programme 2021 to purchase gardening/watering equipment for the Village in Bloom group to continue their wonderful work.
Footpaths Upgrade Phase 3
Funding has been secured thanks to the generous allocations from our local councillors. Commencement date not yet confirmed.
