The launch of our Socio-Economic Development Plan 2020-2025 was a huge success this past Thursday evening. In accordance with Covid guidelines, the event took place in an open marquee on the grounds of Asdee National School. The full video of the event can be seen below.
The MC for the night, Asdee Community Development Chairman John Kennedy, welcomed the crowd before we officially launched our Plan promo video, which showcases the best Asdee has to offer, with a brilliant voiceover by Daithi O’Se.
Project manager for the plan, Lorraine McElligott, then gave an excellent overview of the work that had been carried out during the planning process. Followed by impressive speeches from Roisin Fogarty, Karol Kissane, Jerry O’Mahony, Sandra O’Hanlon, Ogie Sheehy, and Patsy Coughlan, representing the views of the community.
Plan co-ordinators Paul O’Raw and Dr. Brendan O’Keeffe spoke of their pride in facilitating the project and in our plans, before Listowel Municipal District Mayor Michael Foley and NEWKD representative John Dalton addressed the crowd.
Everyone in attendance was impressed with how our main speakers, Minister for Education Norma Foley and RTE’s Katie Hannon spoke about the plan and their knowledge of it before Katie officially declared the plan as launched.
Katie and Norma were then both presented by Lorraine McElligott and Mary Mulvihill with beautiful canvas prints of sunsets on Littor Strand taken during lockdown by Eoin Kennedy.
Thank you once again to everyone who played any part in the creation of our plan and in making the launch the success that it was.
Here is a clip of our talented young musicians Hamish O’Carroll and Leona Sheehy.
